It takes a lot of hard work to shape a tree trunk into a canoe. The tree must be cut down, then stripped of bark and then carved to the correct shape. It requires precision, accuracy and focus. Working in Bible translation requires a lot of the same type of effort. Precision, so that the just the right words are chosen. Accuracy, so that the words selected are used correctly. Focus, so that the big picture isn’t lost when looking at the small details. In the end the completed structure is perfect and fit for use in all kinds of applications. Pray for translators and language workers throughout Papua New Guinea as they carve out the Word of God in the languages spoken there.
