As you know there are not a whole lot of words starting with “X” and the ones I came up with don’t readily relate to language development and Bible translation. Xenon, a rare gas, Xiphosura limulus, a memory fragment from Biology class (used to be a horseshoe crab but they changed its name), Xenophobia, fear of strangers or foreigners. So I compromised to eXcellence. Because when I think of the work that Bible translators and language development workers do, it always seems to be motivated by excellence. I know of translators who have wrestled with one word for months until the eXact (couldn’t resist) meaning was found. Be thankful for the persistent worker who is making someone’s heart language come to life.
